After ten years in the planning, Watford Indoor Bowls Club finally opened its doors in February 1991. The membership quickly grew to 800 which was slightly too high for comfort. It has now settled down to a level around 375 which allows everyone plenty of time on the rink. During the main season (September to April) we run leagues, matches, competitions and general roll-up play. In the summer months we have morning roll-ups three times a week and a very popular Summer Cup on Thursday evenings. For as long as it lasted, our competitive bowlers regularly won the Inter County League Trophy in a play off against Essex and they have achieved other notable successes. We have a well stocked bar and good quality catering. We have been a totally mixed club from the start and people of both sexes and all levels of ability are made very welcome. Above all we pride ourselves on being an exceptionally friendly club.
